Hat:

Ch 5, sl st tog to make a ring.

Round 1: Ch 3, 14 dc in ring. Sl st tog into the top of ch 3. (Count the ch 3 now and throughout as 1st dc)

Round 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each st around.

Round 3: Ch 3, dc in same st, *dc in next st, 2 dc in next st. Repeat from * around. Sl st tog.

Round 4: Ch 3, dc in same st, *dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st. Repeat from * around. Sl st tog.

Round 5- 13: Ch 3, dc in each st around. Sl st tog.

Round 14: Ch 1, Sc in each st around.  Sl st tog.

Scarf:

Row 1: Ch 200, Back Loops Only, dc in the 4th chain from hook.  Then dc across. Ch 3 and turn.

Row 2: *Skip 1st st, dc, then cross the front of the dc and dc in the skipped stitch. (this makes the cross stitch in crochet) Repeat from * around.  End with a dc. Ch 3, turn.

Row 3: Dc in each st across. Ch 3, turn.

Row 4: Repeat Row 2. DO NOT FASTEN OFF.

NOTE: For the child's scarf, I had more yarn so I did 6 rows.  For both versions, I used an I hook.

Now to attach to hat, ch 1, sl st across the scarf to the markers. (Mark the center of the scarf and where to attach the hat.  Use stitch markers to keep your place.) Sl st the scarf to the hat at the marked spots.  Then continue sl st down the rest of the scarf.  Fasten off and weave in ends.

Flower: H hook for flower
It's hard to see the picture of the flower on the first set, so the second set, I left the flower off so you could see it.  I attached it after taking the picture. 

Ch 4, sl st tog to form a ring.

Round 1: Ch 3 (Count as beg dc) 2 dc in ring, ch 2.  *3dc in ring, ch 2.  Repeat from * 2 more times.  Sl st to beg ch 3. (4 groups of 3dc)

Round 2: Sl st over a st, ch 3 (you are at the middle dc from the previous round), 2dc.  *Do 3dc in the ch 2 sp. 3dc in the middle dc from the previous round.  Repeat from * around. Sl st tog. (8 groups of 3dc)

Round 3: Ch 1, hdc, dc, tr, dtr, tr, dc, hdc, sl st all in the next st. (petal) Sl st over 2 sts, Repeat petal.  You will have 7 petals total.  Sl st tog.  Fasten off and weave in ends.

Center of flower: Ch 10, fasten off. times 2.  Take the 2 chains and sew them to the center of the flower and cross them.  Sew to the hat.  On the second flower, I didn't do a center.  You could do just about anything you wanted to the center.
