I made this pattern up in Feb. I’m just now getting the pattern written. There might be errors as I haven’t made it since that time. I’m sorry if there are. I hope to make another one for next year, but I haven’t had time.

Chest top
Row 1: Ch 18, sc in the 2nd ch from the hook. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Sc in the same hole as the turning ch, sc across. At the end put another sc in the last st. (You are increasing by 2 sts) ch 1, turn.
Row 3 – 7 Repeat Row 2. (The top will grow as you work down it.)
Row 8: Stop increasing and just sc across, ch 1 and turn.
Row 9- 15: Repeat Row 8.
Sc around the whole top piece. Then do 7dc shell around the sides and the top. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Ties (make 2)
Ch 50, then sl st back across. Sew ties to corner shells of the top. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Middle Band
Row 1: Ch 83, hdc in 3rd ch from the hook. Hdc across, ch 2 and turn.
Row 2: Hdc across, ch 2 and turn.
Row 3: Hdc in first 2 sts, ch 1 and skip next st (buttonhole). Hdc in next 4 sts, ch 1 and skip next st. Hdc in next 4 sts, ch 1 and skip st. Finish with hdc across, ch 2 and turn.
Row 4 – 5: Repeat Row 2.
Edging: sc around ends and the top of Row 1. Do 3 sc in corners to make it lay right.

Line up top and band….Sc tog. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Bottom Shell Part
Row 1: From band, count over 17sts, attach yarn with sl st, sc in that st. *Skip 3 sts, then 2dc, ch 2, 2 dc in the next st. Repeat across from *. I had 12 shells across. (I made sure the bottom was centered) End with a sc, ch 3 and turn.
Row 2: Now 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc in the ch 2 space from the shells in the first row all the way across. Ch 3 and turn. 
Row 3 – 10: Repeat Row 2. Fasten off and weave in ends.

I sewed 2 buttons on the other end of the band to be able to button in the holes I left.

Headband
G hook and scraps of cotton yarn
Row 1: Ch 7, dc in the 4th chain from the hook cross over the front and dc in the 3rd chain from the hook. *Skip next st, dc, cross over front and dc in skipped st. Repeat from * across. End with a dc.
Row 2: Ch 3, turn. *Skip next st, dc, cross over front and dc in skipped st. Repeat from * across and end with a dc in the last stitch.
Row 3-33: Repeat Row 2.
Fasten off and sew ends together. Weave in ends.
