Round 1: Ch 4, sl st tog. Ch 3, 9dc in ring, sl st tog.

Round 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, dc in each st around, sl st tog.

Round 3: Repeat Round 2.

Round 4: Ch 3, dc in same st, dc in next 6sts, 2dc, dc in rest of sts, sl st tog.

Round 5: Ch 3, dc in same st, dc in each st around, sl st tog.

Round 6: Ch 3, dc in same st, *dc, dc, 2dc Repeat from * around, sl st tog.

Round 7: Ch 3, dc in same st, dc in each st around, sl st tog.

Round 8-16: Repeat Round 7.

Round 17: Ch 3, dc in same st, dc in next 2sts, 2dc in next st, dc in each st around, 2dc in last st, sl st tog.

Round 18: Ch 3, dc in same st, dc in each st around, sl st tog.

Round 19: Repeat Round 18.

Round 20: Repeat Round 18.

Round 21: Repeat Round 17.

Round 22: Repeat Round 18.

Round 23: Ch 3, dc in same st, *dc, dc, dc, 2dc, Repeat from * around, sl st tog.

Round 24: Repeat Round 18.

Round 25: Ch 3, dc in same st, *dc in the next 9sts, 2dc in next st. Repeat from * around, sl st tog.

Round 26: Ch 3, dc in each st around, sl st tog.

Round 27: Repeat Round 26.

Round 28: Ch 3, dc in next *7 sts, 2dc, Repeat from * around, sl st tog.

Round 29-34: Repeat Round 26. I left the loop as to attach the ribbing trim and leave about a 8" tail.

Ribbing Trim:

Row 1: Ch 6, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc across (5sc), ch1, turn.

Row 2: BLO, sc in each st across (5sc), ch 1 turn. (it will be 5sc in each row)

Rows 3-30: BLO, sc in each st across, ch 1, turn (except the last row). Don't fasten off on the last row, sl st tog and sl st together the short ends.

Then turn the hat inside out, now you will sl st the ribbing to the hat. You need to stretch the ribbing slightly only to fit to the hat. This takes just a little bit of work, but does work out and is great for making the hat fit the head. 

Turn the hat right side back and weave in ends.
