Notes

I got a puppy (half black lab and half English Springer Spaniel) and it was still cold in the mornings and at night, so I made her a sweater.

Row 1: Ch 20, hdc in 3rd ch from hook, hdc in each Back Loop across, 2 hdc in last st. Ch 2, turn. (20 sts)

Row 2: Hdc in first hdc then hdc in Both Loops in each st across. 2 hdc in last st, ch 2 and turn. (21 sts)

Row 3: 2 hdc in first hdc, hdc in each st across. 2 hdc in last st. Ch 2, turn. (23 sts)

Row 4: Repeat Row 3. (25 sts)

Row 5: Repeat Row 3. (27 sts)

Row 6: Repeat Row 3. (29 sts)

Row 7: Repeat Row 3. (31 sts)

Row 8: Repeat Row 3. (33 sts)

Row 9: Repeat Row 3. (35 sts)

Row 10:  Repeat Row 3. (37 sts)

Row 11: Hdc in each st across. Ch 2 and turn. No increasing now and throughout. (37 sts)

Rows 12 - 35: Repeat Row 11.

Fasten off after Row 35.  Do not ch 2 and turn on Row 35. Weave in all ends.

I changed colors, but you don't have to.  I used black to sc around the entire sweater.

Neck strap: Attach yarn to sweater with a sl st. Ch 28, turn. Sc in the 2nd st from the hook. Sc in each st down to the original starting point. Turn and sc back up the strap.  Fasten off and sew the end to the neck and weave in ends.  Sew a button onto the other side of the neck.  I clipped a small hole and use that as a button hole.  You could change it to however you wish.

Tummy Strap:

Row 1: Ch 25, sc in 2nd ch from the hook, sc in each st. Ch 1 turn.

Row 2: Sc across in each st. Ch 1 and turn.

Rows 3 - 6: Repeat Row 2. Sew both ends to sweater in tummy area.  Add button to the main part of sweater.  Fasten off and weave in ends.

I made this very simple and very basic as I know she'll grow out of it before Winter comes.
