Granny Heart: make 2 hearts
Ch 4, sl st tog to make a ring.
Round 1: Ch 3, 2 dc in ring, ch 2. 3 dc in ring, ch 2. Repeat 3 dc in ring, ch 2 2 more times. (4 groups of 3 dc, ch 2) sl st tog at the top of the ch 3.
Round 2: Sl st over 2 sts to the corner, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3dc corner made. *3 dc in next corner, ch 2, 3 dc. Repeat 2 more times. (4 corners made - 2 groups in each corner) Sl st tog at the top of the ch 3.
Round 3: Sl st 2 sts, sc in ch 2 sp, ch 1, now you will skip over to next ch 2 sp- work 6 tr,ch 1 into that sp, sc in next ch2 sp and ch 1, now skip over to next ch 2 sp - work 6tr, ch 1 into that sp, sc in next ch 2 sp. Fasten off on the first heart but not the second heart. Weave in ends.
After you have both hearts, you will sew up the top of the heart. But first take the kids plastic heart bracelet and sc around it. Make sure it's tight so no plastic shows. This will test your hand's dexterity as it's a little tricky at first. When you have that done, fasten off leaving about a 8" tail to sew to the heart. Now go back to your hearts, turn them so the wrong sides are together in the middle. Sew together from the side working towards the left to the other side, leave the bottom point undone right now. Fasten off and leave a 12" tail for sewing up the bottom. Pick up the plastic heart bracelet and sew the bottom point to the middle of the back heart. Fasten off and weave in end so it can't be seen. Go back to the 12" tail and sew around the heart bracelet and sew up the bottom point of the 2 hearts.
Make hanger for Towel Holder:
Row 1: Leave a 6" tail for sewing to the heart, ch 5, hdc in 3rd ch from hook, hdc across, ch 2, turn. (4 sts)
Row 2: Hdc across, ch 2 turn. (4sts)
Row 3-13: Repeat Row 2. (4sts in each row)
Row 14: Hdc, ch 2, hdc in next 2sts. Fasten off and weave in this end. On the row 1 side, sew that to the back of the heart.
Sew button on and button up your towel topper.
