Chain 5 slip st tog, 14 dc in ring. Slip st tog and ch 2. Dc in same stitch as ch 2, then 2 dc in each st around.
*Dc in next st, 2 dc in next st. Repeat from * around, slip st tog and ch 2. *Dc in next 2 stitches, then 2 dc in next st. Repeat from * around, slip st tog and ch 2. In back loops only, dc in each st around, slip st tog and ch 2. In both loops, dc in each st around, slip st tog and ch 2. Dc in each st around again, slip st tog and ch 2. If desired, you can do a cross stitch crochet in this row. If you don’t want to, just dc around. To do the cross stitch, *skip next st, dc in next st; working around last st made, dc in skipped st. Repeat from * around, slip st tog and ch 2. Do 5 more rows of dc around, slip st tog. Total of 13 rows in all from center. Edging: *Ch 3 and sc in next st. Repeat from * around making a ruffle.
Smiley face: Instead of a ruffle, I used sc around the bottom. I just added stitches for the eyes and sewed black yarn on for mouth. You could add pompoms instead or whatever else you want to do.

Purple one: I added a flower to the top. The flower pattern isn’t mine. I found off Internet.
