Sunshine Banner

About me:

I'm a mother of three: Zach 16, Josh 15, and Shaelynn 9.  I'm married to my best friend, Gavin.  We have known each other for 19 years, been together for over 171/2 years and married for 17.  I like to design crochet items, sew, cook, refurnish wood furniture items and flower garden.  Last year was our first year of having a real garden (not just flowers) and we had fun with it, so this year we hope to expand and plant more items.  Last fall, I got a new digital camera and I am experimenting with photography.  It's something that both my husband and I enjoy.

I'm a fibromyaglia fighter and deal with depression and chronic fatigue along with many other side effects of fibromyalgia.  Since last year, I've been really trying to focus on positive things in my life and be grateful for what I do have.  Not what I don't have or can't do anymore.... It's so depressing when I only focus on the negative and what I used to do.  Life is not fair and I know that and choose to go on anyway.  I believe that I'm strong enough to cope with the pain I have to deal with even if somedays I just cry and there is no relief in sight.  It's okay to cry, but not okay to give up...giving up is not an option.

My daughter, Shaelynn, is my miracle baby.  I tried for 6 years to get pregnant and finally I got the sweetest girl you will ever know.  She is the sunshine of my life and through the dark days, God's love shines through her.  Sunshine crochet all came about because of this little girl.  She inspired me and I loved crocheting because of her.  As she has grown up and my fibromyalgia was diagnosed as well as my brain aneurysm and many other health issues... it was hard to develop new crochet items...crochet fell away due to life's issues.  I'm working on being inspired again and continuing using my hands to create.  It's sometimes a slow process, but I hope to continue to share on this website.  I truly welcome you to my website and hope you find something you are looking for and maybe, just maybe some HOPE! You see without HOPE, we truly cease to grow and prosper.  Life is not fair and doesn't smell like roses, sometimes it just stinks and hurts, but you can find true joy in being yourself and not giving up.

I watch Food Network all the time and am a big romantic soul.  I like to read Debbie Macomber and Linda Lael Miller books.  They are both Washington State authors and Washington State is 15 minutes away from my home.  I love Hallmark Channel movies and can't stand horror movies or anything too realistic as they give me nightmares.  I'm more serious than I used to be, but I have a quirky sense of humor.  I'm a big dog and cat lover.  My dogs are my companions during the day when my family is at school and work. I adore being out in the Idaho mountains, but because of fibromyaglia I've had to make adaptions.  My husband bought us a travel trailer that we go camping in now instead of when we spent 14 years in a tent.  Being out in nature is soothing to me and makes God so real when I see the wonders He has made.

My parents are an important part of my life.  They have taught me so much and loved me through some of the biggest trials of my life.  They have been married for nearly 50 years and are Gavin's and mine mentors in marriage.
